Nick Mclamb is an Architectural and Industrial photographer, the photography here showcases the modern aesthetic of NCMA's structures and buildings as well as the nature and community elements surrounding them
The NC Museum of Art is much more than just a large building full of paintings and sculptures, it's an entire campus with trails, a theater, massive outdoor sculptures and artistic buildings. These photos were taken in winter when the grass is brown but still lush and healthy, and the cold wind glides freely across it's vast plains. The top down view above is to give a perspective that a viewer would not see of the museum when they arrive, and one that they would not think to perceive while they're inside.
This tree, named "Askew" is a stainless steel sculpture created in 2009 by American artist Roxy Paine. It's one of my favorite things to see each time I visit and it complements the building very well. What I might love more than the tree itself is the grass beneath it. The soft and dense layer is always thriving in all seasons, never changing enough to notice, and stuck in place like the symmetry between the tree and hallway behind it.
Using a tilt shift lens, I wanted to direct the eye upward to the figures hanging from the ceiling. This area of the museum is usually the busiest due to the entrance and café. The seating area is inviting and seems to cultivate a very lively and social environment, no doubt thanks to it's vibrant and soft aesthetics whereas the rest of the museum tends to be quite hard.

Unfortunately, my time with the Art museum was cut short and I wasn't able to capture video as I'd wished!
